Longshore Studio - Architecture practice

Buildings that sit down in their own landscape.

A six-person practice working on houses, small civic buildings and the occasional boathouse, mostly within an hour of the coast.

The whole practice, no associate offices

Every project is drawn by the person who visits the site. Planning drawings and construction drawings come from the same hand.

A single long room facing the water, with everything else behind it.

Survey
We measure it ourselves
Existing buildings are surveyed by us before anything is drawn. A survey bought from a third party is a set of assumptions with a fee attached.

Construction packages are detailed to the junction. Contractors price them tighter because there is less to guess at.

On site fortnightly
Visits are scheduled into the fee from the outset rather than charged as extras when something goes wrong.

Longshore Studio

A first response usually includes whether the site has a planning history worth knowing about before you spend anything.

That is where the demonstration ends. Longshore Studio is invented, so the buttons above lead here rather than anywhere. These two do work.

What you are looking at

Technique: Scroll-linked progress element
Why here: A body of work is a row, not a column. Vertical scroll drives the row sideways, and the same named timeline that moves the row fills the index rail underneath it - so the position indicator cannot drift out of step with the thing it indicates, because it is not a second calculation.
With animation off: The pinned layout is only declared where the timeline exists. Everywhere else the row is an ordinary horizontal scroller with snap points, and the index rail sits full rather than empty.
